Register Here: Trail 1 Inspiration to Lower Falls

Length: 3.0 miles

Difficulty: Trail 1 is moderately difficult, trail goes straight down from Inspiration Point to Lower Falls, approximately 300 feet climb back up from river to top. Some stairways to traverse.

Meeting Place: Two options: meet at the Castile Entrance by 9:40am or meet us by 9:50am at the Inspiration Point parking lot, across from the Stone House & past the Visitor Center on the same side of the road. Inspiration Point parking lot is on the left side of the road.

Bring: Headlamp, warm layered clothing, gloves, hat and any emergency medication.

MICROSpikes recommended if light snow or ice. We'll have them to rent for $10 if you don't have a pair. Snowshoes if snow is 6+ inches or deeper, and are $20 to rent. Headlamps also available to rent for $10. All rental prices can be applied to purchase same day as rental.

Trail 1: Inspiration Point to Lower Falls

Join the Trail Otter Gang for another Winter Hike . We'll meet at the Inspiration Point parking lot, with working restrooms and a great view of the Middle Falls. Arrive by 9:50am to sign waivers and start hiking by 10am. This hike will feature hemlock forests, beautiful views of the river from high above, and views of both the Middle & Lower Falls. Trail 1 can be a workout, as we drop down via stairs and slopes to the Lower Falls area. Depending on trail closures/availability, we may hike down to the Lower Falls if allowed. Approximately 3 miles of hiking with some steep climbs.
